Surprisingly to most new patients, acupuncture is very relaxing. We will talk you through everything we do and we will do our best to answer all your questions.
Acupuncture is based on the ancient traditions of Chinese Medicine, using fine needles inserted into specific points on the body to enhance the flow of ‘qi’ around the body. Most treatments involve up to 12 needles put into different places. We use acupuncture to support women with menstrual irregularities such as late ovulation, spotting or painful periods and for those going through IVF or other assisted conception treatments.
We tailor our sessions for women to each stage in the menstrual cycle, or each stage of your drug protocol for IVF patients. For men we usually vary between using acupuncture points on the back and along the legs.
Clinical research suggests that acupuncture may help to enhance the success rates in IVF. The nurses and consultants at most of the NHS and private IVF clinics in Scotland see many patients who are having acupuncture with us and are positive about its effects.
